The A+ certification awarded by the CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) is recognized worldwide and is the basic certification that your technician should have before he or she handles your equipment. SIA also holds the CompTIA A+, Networking+ and the Security + certifications. The Microsoft networking certifications run the gammit from the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) for Server NT, & 2000 to the MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) awarded for expertise with the MS Server 2008R2.
